auschwitz concentration camp
Camps were constructed for the express purpose of rational mass extermination, principally of Jews, but of other groups as well. When the prisoners were killed they did not give respect to the body so they would just leave them in a pile or burn them to ashes. “I told him that I did not believe that they could burn people in our age, that humanity would never tolerate it . . .”
The Auschwitz conctentration camp was established in 1940 by the Germans. It is located in the suburbs of Oswiecim, a Polish city that was soon a city that was annexed to the Third Reich by the Nazis. Peasents that lived in the concentration camps would have numbers on their arm to show which camp they belonged to. The Auschwitz is the largest death camp out of all the concentration camps. After their peasents died from either a sickness, starvation, or they have been shot/gassed to death, they would burn the bodies.
